Post Traumatic Stress

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects people in many different ways.  This disorder can spring from an isolated incident or a series of traumatic events, or on-going abuse.  If the traumatic event was life threatening, the victim will ultimately feel intense fear, horror or helplessness.  Re-living the event through dreams, thoughts, images or having the abuse re-occur daily will magnify the problem.

PTSD can restrict the victim’s life as one avoids certain situations and activities. PTSD sufferers will detach or isolate from others, suffer from insomnia, feel unfulfilled, lack concentration, suffer outbursts of anger and manifest an increased startle response.

Victims of PTSD ask, “Where can I go?”  “What can I do?”  “Who will understand and who will help me?”  These are heart-felt questions of real concern which sufferers ask every day.  They are questions that many associate with times ancient, from the past, not of our technology age where man believes he knows all things.  But these cries for help are real and they can be answered today as in biblical times - - with the help of angels.

Angel Light Academy, through it’s programs, can assist children and adults to go beyond their fears and PTSD to live normal lives.  If you have questions or are interested in additional information on how ALA can help, please contact Joe Collins, Social Worker.
